The backrest won't just flop down. It is designed to slide forward as the back rest lowers. Which means the seat can be tight up against the side of the van and it will still create a bed.

Easily adjustable bed position opening to 58" Wide x 40". Most installation have a cushioned area behind the seat making the bed even bigger.

The over all height is 35" and to the base of this van bed seat is 18"

Storage access beneath sofa is 11" high
